Can we make a list of suitable pistons for the challange?

77mm
77,5mm
78mm

Pin diameter 20mm?
compression height?
Dome in a suitable position?
pistons rings?

I found these pistons that we´re used in the mazda 1400 engine from the GLC or great little car, early rearwheeldriven 323 in europe.
Original bore 77mm, piston pin is 20mm
also available till 78 oversize



Just ad your pistons with as much info as possible and I'll make a grid with all the info for future builds.
If it is easier for people to find cheap parts to try and win this, the challange can grow

They should work fine! They are also "legal" according to the challenge regulations.Compression height isn't really a big issue since the deck height can be adjusted to accomodate almost any piston compression height.

Ich werde in meinem Sauger 78,5mm Kolben aus einem Audi V6 Diesel verwenden. Bei dieselkolben muss man jedoch das kolbenspiel um 2-4/100 vergrößern, wär dann etwa 8-10/100 Spiel.

Hab die vertiefungen rausgedreht, deswegen die Vorrichtung, Kolbenbolzen hat 20mm.
Die baugleichen Kolben hab ich auch in 84,5 ausm RS6, jedoch haben die wohl eine andere Legierung, ist beim drehen stark aufgefallen.

78,5mm ist 1,5mm über Nominal Mass und gibt damit 4% mehr Hubraum...ist dass nicht ein bischen zu viel davon?

Wenn wir beim 12ten Übermass sind,brauche ich nicht mehr umbauen;-)

I am going for forged XJR1200 Pistons, with a little weld on.

Bore 77mm (Piston is 76,96)
Rings 1 / 1,2 / 2,5
Weight incl. all 308g each
ch 26mm
pin 18mm

If you go with those pistons and a 5,6" rod, you will have nearly the same length than a stock 12oocc.

Used pistons are pretty cheap (paid 60€ for a set of 4) as there is a bigbore kit for the xjr that all those guys want.

I will post a picture if I have internet running in my new home, or merik will post one as he is using the same pistons.

Ich werd aber die 78,5mm nehmen, dann ziehen wir bei meinen halt 4% der leistung ab...
Ich find das ist so ziemlich die schönste lösung die möglich ist, allein weil die Kolben auch erschwinglich sind (6Stck/~50€)
Der Motor wird pro seite zwar knapp 32mm schmaler aber das find ich gut!

Zylinderköpfe auffschweißen und exzentrische Ventilfürhungen bringen enorme vorteile

The piston on the left has massive scoring! I would not use it because it will fuck up your cylinder wall in the process and your rings will seal properly,blow by and loss of compression will result..
