TÛV approval of 1303 from Denmark?

Thank you for a great forum.

I hope you can help me with this one. I live in Copenhagen Denmark, and I have a modified 1303. It is almost impossible to get a car through MOT with modfications, so every one is more or less driving around in illigal cars (US-cars, VW's, motorcycles etc.). The fines are huge, so I would like to have all modification registrred in the papers. To my understanding the danish authorities have to accept a TÛV approval, so I am planning to go to germany in order to have my 1303 TÜV approved. I have written a little bit with Kerscher Tuning, and they claim they can do it for me. However, there is a long way from Copenhagen to Kerscher, especially if it fails the inspection, and I need to return. So I would like to ask you, is there is any TÛV places in the north of Germany with are used to handling modified beetles? E.g. Hamburg area is much closer to Copenhagen

unfortunately I don't know anyone in the Hamburg area, but you might contact Gerd Weiser in Düsseldorf. That will be about 250 km less.

Yes, I know Torben Alstrup very well. I have also talked with him regarding this, but he did'nt have any suggestion for a TUV place. But he said that he might be able to help when the car needs to go through MOT here in Denmark. I think you need to have a lot of conversation with the MOT-person here in Denmark, before they are willing to accept the TÛV, even though it should be straight forward.

Hello

I didn't have any luck with a TÜV-place north of Hamburg, so I wrote an email to Gerd Weiser. He replied fast and was very informative. He explained that since my car is build after 1/10 1971, there is only three options:

Type 1 1776 cc with single carb 34 pict.
Type 4 2 liter 95 hp.
Type 4 2,4 130 hp

The last option (2,4 liter and 130 hp) will then be my choise. However, can anyone explain what the limits are with regards to noise and emissions? And what not to put on the engine? For exampel will 48 mm IDF be accepted etc.?
